Pulpotomy

Recent studies have indicated that a more conservative treatment can be successfully used in some cases. This is called a pulpotomy.

A pulpotomy is the removal of a portion of the pulp, including the diseased aspect, with the intent of maintaining the vitality of the remaining pulpal tissue by means of a therapeutic dressing.

If a pulpotomy is unsuccessful root canal treatment will then be required.
